Our older house has limited refrigerator space in the kitchen (unless we rip out some overhead cabinets). When we replaced an old fridge around May 1st, we decided to buy a "supplemental" freezer. After reading multiple reviews on multiple sites, we settled on this freezer. It was small enough and "light" enough for me to muscle it into the basement. It did take several hours to cool down after plugging it in (just like the instruction manual said it would), but we've been using it since May 1st and have had no problems. Because some reviewers of this size freezer (but not this brand) had problems with things staying cold, especially with frequent opening, we keep a pint-sized plastic bowl filled with ice cubes toward the front. So far, the cubes haven't melted noticeably. They serve as a warning system plus give me some cubes in the basement when I'm working down there so they get replaced periodically.Noisy little freezer. Found one mounting bolt for the compressor missing, one not tighned down. Manual incorrect with settings of temps. This freezer runs almost constantly. Temp inside rises quickly when power is off. I question the amount of insulation used.
