I bought this from Home Depot for my mom as a Christmas present last year. It has just stopped working (the display and light still work but it simply will not get cold). So here I am thinking that I am still within a 1 year warranty. Well I went to the manual and of course the warranty was something like 60 or 90 days. That's unbelievable for a $150 product. An attempt to contact Vinotemp through their website went unanswered. When the package arrived the door was not attached. I fixed it without too much effort. Since then the door has come off once under normal use. Other than a those two issues with the door I'm very happy with this wine fridge.Be warned before purchasing anything from Vinotemp, as their customer service policeis are less than customer friendly. I received the VT-6TEDS model, via UPS. Box was in perfect shape, with no sign of damage or shipping related problems. Looking as if everything was in good order, I wrapped the box, and presented to my wife as a Christmas gift. Upon opening the box, we discovered that the stainless steel door had numerous scratches and a large rub mark. The condition was so bad, at first we were convinced that there must be a protective film on the door nope, there was nothing to protect the surface. Vinotemp's customer service department did nothing to assist, other than to site a conditions and terms policy, stating that a customer has -4days to notify them of damage, otherwise you accept the product. Well, since I didn't open a perfect box, and look more closely at the product, Vinotemp would take no responsibility for the problem. They seemed to be more interested in placing blame on the shipping company (UPS). Upon closer inspection of the cooler, I am now convinced that what I was sent was a returned or refurbished unit. The protective film was missing, UPC or serial number had been cut and removed from the manufacturer's box, and manufacture date was Oct 2006 (seems odd that their inventory is 5 years old have to wonder how that would have impacted long term performance). This unit clearly looks as if it had been used. I escalated to a Vinotemp VP, who also held firm to the "you didn't tell us within 4 days" stance, and refused to help in any way, even though I advised that this was a gift, and that I had no idea that there even was a -4day notification period (I had the product for about 12 days before calling customer service) in fact, my paperwork from Vinotemp does not state any such policy. So, the message here is BUYER BEWARE. Vinotemp will attempt to devert responsibility for any problem to you, the shipper, anybody but themselves. In my experience, they completely failed to stand behind their product, or attempt to satisfy a customer in any way. I can only wonder what type of service I would have received if the unit were to malfunction during the 12 month warranty period.
