Haier HVZ035ABS 35-Bottle Capacity Extra large Wine Cellar, Black

Haier HVZ035ABS 35-Bottle Capacity Extra large Wine Cellar, Black
  • Heavy duty brushed metal handle with flat glass door with blue gray tint and graphite trim
  • Adjustable dual electronic flexi zone with an automatic setting for red and white wine
  • 5 flat wire vinyl coated storage reacks and 2 half depth racks
  • Dual function LED readout with soft interior lighting
  • Leveling legs and a automatic door stop

NICE CONCEPT, BUT I WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT BUYING HAIER.

This is a nice compact wine cooler. The top shelf will go down to 43 degrees (if it is working) for 10 bottles of white and the bottom shelf will go down to 56 degrees for 25 bottles of red. It is a small size that can fit into a corner. It is a good height, being about the height of countertop. You can take shelves out so you can store magnums.

The unit has adjustable feet for leveling, but there is not adjustment available. It is easy to unscrew a foot all of the way out, and then it is difficult to screw back in. I ended up putting a coaster under one of the feet to level the unit.

BUT IT IS VERY POOR QUALITY.

When I got the unit home, I found it had a broken door and would not seal. The manual says, don't return the unit, but call for service.

Haier contracts out the service to the same company that does home service calls for Sears. I called and someone came within a week. They found that the door was broken and needed to be replaced.

A new door was ordered from Haier. It took about 3 months for a door to come. Haier sent 2 doors, because both doors were badly chipped. I guess they felt we would just choose the one that was the best. Then Haier sent out 3 more doors, each one worse than the next.

I was getting nowhere with Haier, so I sent an email to the company headquarters in China. I finally got some action, and Haier said they would replace my entire unit.

I did get a "new" unit. It was kind of dinged up, but the door sealed.

Also, some of the shelves do not stay in place.

After about 30 days of running, the unit will start making a lot of noise. There is actually a thing in the owners manual about this. It says if the cooler starts making noise, unplug it for a little while. Of course, this is a bid pain, if you have the cooler up against the wall and the plug is not easy to access. It means about once a month, you need to empty the wine cooler, move it out from the wall, unplug, wait and push it back.

After 5 months, this new unit stopped cooling on the top shelf. I called Haier and they said it is no longer under warranty, since I purchased the unit over a year ago. But, the first unit was bad for 7 months and not really usuable. I've only had a "working" unit for 5 months.

I am now going to appeal to corporated headquarters and see if they will do something about it.

I bought this dual-temp wine fridge about 2 months ago, and so far everything has been great. It came assembled for about $60 shipping, set up in a minute, and has been quietly keeping my white and red cool since.

The unit is pretty large make sure to check the dimensions. It's attractive in black with a silver bezel around the glass door. The two LED temp displays are bright blue almost bright enough to be a night light.

Setting the temperatures is pretty easy. It works like setting your average bedside alarm clock. I chose to have the top (smaller) portion at 46 for white and the lower (larger) portion at 62 for red. I haven't tried putting my own thermometer in to test the temp, but the digits rarely deviate from what I set them at, even during the 80+ degree days at the end of the summer.

In terms of noise, it's relatively inconspicuous. When the compressor turns on, there is a hum but it's not enough to bother me at all in my mid-size living room, even while working or watching a movie. This was one of my concerns to begin with and this product makes the grade. Silent would be better, but I'm very content.

I haven't had it long enough to test more than a few wines that have been stored in the fridge, and that'll be the real test. We'll gave to wait and see, but expect the results will be favorable. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.

This product is terrible. It was given to me as engagement gift by my parents and after one month it stopped cooling in the top chamber. After getting a replacement unit the new unit is now also no working. My dad also had problems with his. We have gone through 4 of these things. Haier should be ashamed selling defective products like this. I will never buy another Haier product ever again...

It has been an up and down road so far with this fridge. I excitedly arrived home to see my new wine fridge waiting for me at my front door. To my dismay it looked like the box had been badly handled either from FedEx or from the Amazon warehouse. After fighting it down my basement (it I pretty heavy you are better off having helped to move it) I was nervous about unpacking fearing that it may have been damaged. To my surprise the refrigerator was in perfect condition and it seemed like the box took the brunt of the beating.

Got it out of the box, plugged in and ready to go. The controls are pretty straight forward to use and you can easily set the temperatures for the two zones. i have not yet put a separate thermometer in the fridge to test the accuracy of the digital read outs but my guess is the are close within a few degrees. It quickly cooled down to the set temperatures and I fully loaded in my wine. The wire shelves are decent for supporting the wine but they are basically useless in trying to slide them out to see what wines are on each rack.

After loading the wine I closed the door and realized that the light would not turn off. After further detective work I realized that the switch at the bottom of the door was broken and was leaving the light on. After jamming a piece of paper into the switch I was able to turn the light off. Pretty disgusted that I had to call Haier the very first night of operation to get a service tech. The first woman I spoke with was an absolutely miserable human. She literally made me hang up and call back because she could not wait 30 seconds to get the Amazon receipt. They are VERY particular that the information you give them on the phone EXACTLY matches the sales slip. Frustrated I called back and spoke with a nice gentleman that was much for helpful. They scheduled me a service call a few days later. The repair man is supposed to be here today, we will see how that goes.

The Haier is in the basement so noise it not of real concern to me, but it seems to be extremely quite. Relative to the beverage fridge I have next to it, it is pretty silent.

Size is very spacious, as you can easily fit 10+ bottles of red on the top, it is really made for 10 on the top but there is room to stake on a second row. Bigger bottles are tight down below but the bottom to shelves to a nice job of handling the larger bottles like a chardonnay.

As I said for the price I don't think you can find a two-zone of this size cheaper. I would recommend this Haier.

Refrigerator was delivered with shattered front glass door. I believe it was shipped that way because outer box was in perfect shape. A return/exchange through Amazon was arranged. It's not easy to pack one of these back up. Replacement unit has cracked front door frame near the hinge. Getting no where so far with Haier for replacement door that was promised 4 months ago. All done with Haier products and large items from Amazon.
