Ice Maker

Ice Maker
  • Can make up to 44-pounds of ice a day.
  • Front-breathing with automatic defrost.

  • Dimensions: 14 3/4"W x 33 1/2"H x 23 1/2"D.

This product does what it's designed to. make ice;however, the main reason I bought it was that there is no drain required. That's true, but if you don't have a drain, this thing has to be manually drained by you, and very often. The lower pan fills up, sometimes several times per hour and when it does you get an ear piercing alarm that doesn't go off until you manually drain the lower pan. This to me defeats the purpose of having it. Not to mention you must drain the ice bin at least twice per day and sometimes more often. If you really want a ice maker I suggest you have a drain nearby for this one, otherwise try another model/brand.

We had the ice maker professionally installed. It did not produce ice. No water made it into the ice maker. Installer came back and cleaned out debris left in tubing by manufacturer. Tried again. Still did not produce any ice after 48 hours. Unit did not get cold. Called customer service to ask for warranty service call. Customer service was extremely rude. Promised to call back "in three days" to arrange a service call. Had to call back several times and start over several times and STILL no service call!

This ice machine only works for 10-18 hours before the unit creates so much frost it can't dump ice and you have to unplug it for an hour or two so it can defrost and be turned back on. It takes almost 90 minutes to make it's first batch of 12 cubes and makes another 12 45 minutes later (we timed it) in order to make one batch of margaritas for two, it takes three hours. Summit has absolutely no desire to help you after it's sold. Going to put it out at a garage sale for fifty bucks to get rid of this useless thing which would be better used as a boat anchor!
