We bought this GE Profile bottom freezer fridge from PC Richards several months ago because of an emergency: our old bottom freezer kitchen aid finally died after 18 years of flawless service. I should have looked more carefully but the shiny compartments -there are lots and lots of compartments -overwhelmed me. I should have particularly paid closer attention to the freezer compartment. With the installed ice maker, the layout of the freezer makes for a tiny, tiny space difficult to manage. In fact, all those shelves and drawers and compartments, while looking hyper-efficient, really make storing food problematic and difficult -much, much more so that the old Kitchen Aid is replaced. On the door, the way the flip-open compartments are aligned takes away useful stroage space, and makes it difficult to store taller items. It is also surprisingly noisy when the compressor kicks in. On the positive side, it does keep temperatures correctly both in the freezer and fridge areas, the interior lighting scheme is nice, and the door alarm has turned out to be a useful feature. But if you're thinking of a GE profile, just be careful when assessing its useful storage space, as opposed to its gross cubic footage.
