Buy GE PSHS9PGZSS Profile 29.1 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star Now
I was looking for a new Fridge Made here in the U.S.A. and i bought this one, a great fridge, great design, great quality, sturdy built.Purchased a GE Side By Side Stainless Steel two years ago and all the metal parts in the freezer section are rusting. It was slight six months ago and is now very obvious where the shelves look dirty, but are in fact rusted. I was a life long GE customer and all my appliances are GE since the house remodel two years ago, including wall ovens, dishwashers and cook-top. We contacted GE customer service and sent details including clear photos of the rust, they emailed that ``because I live in Vermont, which they claim is a humid state, that metal parts in all GE refrigerators will rust`` Hmmm, so GE Refrigerators rust in non-dry humid places throughout the world. So the answer is that if you live in Arizona, Nevada or the Middle East, GE Refrigerators won`t be any problem. Very disappointed in what once was a great American brand. No more GE Appliances for this family.Purchased this product after Hurricane Ike. The outside walls have bowed out to such an extent that both the refrigerator and freezer shelves fall out. The shelves are not wide enough to span the distance between the rails on the sidewalls. There have been many doucmented cases of the freezer shelves falling as well as those in the fresh food section. GE Tech Support refuese to acknowledge that there is a problem and do not have a vendor solution (wider replacement racks). I discovered a temporary fix by cutting lengths of clear plastic tubing (thicker stuff than in an aquarium and available at Home Depot)to fit the shelf rails, slitting them lengthwise, and slipping them over the rails (had to use two thicknesses of hose). In the end, the refrigerator keeps cold things cold (and not frozen) and the freezer keeps frozen things frozen (though the circulation is poor with some things more frozen than others). BEWARE you will end up piling all your frozen foods on top of each other like schoolbooks in a locker and you may have tha pitcher of Kool-Ade come tumbling down and out when the fridge shelf lets go. Recommend that you stay far away from these.
