I purchased this model in 2007, worked fine until 3 days ago when we heard a gurgling noise. Does not cool, thought it was compressor. Service man says compressor is fine, but recommends optional replacement of the compressor while he's in there since he says the compressor outage is a common problem on these, but, the problem is a manufacturer defect by the builder in the copper tube, unseen by the consumer, a small pin slow leak until the pressure forced it to open and drain. Upon contacted customer service and requested the company reconsider as a one time exception to repair the defective unit. I was told no and that any written correspondence may only be sent to customer service via mail to Jim Packard, customer service supervisor at the headquarters in Benton Harbor Michigan.

So here is a heads up for anyone considering buying Amana, Maytag, Whirlpool. This unit has a 1 year warranty, something to consider for your next fridge. I think I will look at Japanese and other refrigerator manufacturers with our bad luck on this beautiful Amana fridge that is broke down!
