Frigidaire FFBC46F5LS: Frigidaire 138 12 oz. Can Capacity Beverage Center

Frigidaire FFBC46F5LS: Frigidaire 138 12 oz. Can Capacity Beverage CenterWe purchased this for a basement remodel in the kitchen area. It is not sold as a built in unit so we did leave 3 inches of space around the top/sides and back. I have read numerous reviews on Lowes.com and Fridigaire that stated they are using it as a built in and have not had problems. The thing I like best about this fridge is that I keeps cool (mid to low 30s if you want). I wanted to be able to use it for food and it has worked great so far. I used my own thermometer to check temps and it is right on. I believe it hits the designated temperature and goes up 3 degrees before kicking in to cool again. I do not find this particularly noisy, it does not sound like a typical compressor, but rather more like a swishing noise like liquid is moving around. While it is noticeable it is not bad and again, much better than a compressor nose that you would hear in smaller cube refrigerators. As for looks, it is gorgeous. It definitely looks more expensive than it was. We paid three hundred and ninety nine dollars less 10% at Lowes. Nothing else came near this that could actually keep the temps in the 30s. We are very happy with our purchase. One other thing to note is that the handle on the top is fantastic. It is so much easier to open without bending to reach for the handle. The shelves are made of glass and look great with the blue light inside. I prefer these to the typical wire shelves. Another nice feature is that the door beeps when you open it and will continue to beep again if it is left open too long. Also it has a lock which is nice if you are storing beverages you don't want the kids to have access to.

This refrigerator has a good capacity, and it keeps items cold. However, when it is cooling (about twice an hour), it is fairly loud. I have the refrigerator in a medium room, and it is definitely noticeable. The shelves are also arranged at odd intervals that do not easily allow adjustment for tall and short beverages. I probably would not buy this unit again due to the noise.

We've been using this beverage center for almost three weeks -it's built into a wall cabinet in our kitchen, and I must say it looks really nice in a high end kitchen. We chose this one for the price, weren't willing to spend $1000 on another similar product. Overall we are pretty happy with it. I don't notice any noise whatsoever coming from it, but the cabinets (and kids!) may muffle any noise the other reviews complained about. My biggest complaint is with the door: if you give it a gentle push to shut with an elbow, the door very often bounces back open. I find it frustrating to find the temperature at 60 degrees midway through the day, only to realize the door is slightly ajar -and the light shuts off when the door is almost shut, giving no clue that the door has been left open. It happens for grownups too, and we've found if you don't push it all the way shut to make sure it latches, it stays open about half the time. It's made for a training period for all of us!

The shelves have a really odd distance between them -top shelf with just barely fit 16 oz ice tea bottles and water bottles (no 24oz pops going in this thing any way but on their side). In order to have space for the normal size water bottles, it leaves one shelf with only enough space to put bottles/cans on their side -lowest only goes so low, and just leaves an odd spacing. I may be able to squeeze 138 juice packs into this thing, but not pop cans. This would not deter me from buying it again for the price, but would like to see them maybe put a stronger magnet in the door and make the shelving better (or at least more options) -and I feel these issues are big enough to give it just three stars. Good, but needs improvement!

Update: so we've been using this for 5 months, and have realized that water somehow manages to freeze on the inside back of the freezer (I think just poor air circulation overall, as beverages at the back are freezing cold, and ones at the front are just cold), and every time we add beverages, this ice thaws, runs down behind the shelves and puddles on the bottom of the cooler. I'm just not impressed with the model... We keep it set at 46 (our diet pop freezes & explodes if you go any colder than this -but only at the back). Downgraded to 2 stars! And I see the price has gone up 25% -I personally would spend a little more and get a better style.

We bought this at another retailer and brought it home. Despite changing the temperature up and down several times along with moving the cans further away from the back wall, we still had cans constantly exploding. The coils are only on the back wall so the rear of the fridge is much colder than the front. When the cooler went on it would freeze the rear cans and they would explode. We tried everything to keep it but to no avail.

I got this at LOWES due to an error on pricing for about 100 bucks less then the normal price. The compressor is loud on this, however, I don't find it annoying. The fridge definitely keeps things cold. It's a little cumbersome to set the temp but I have yet to have a problem with a warm drink. In fact sometimes the drinks are frozen.

Definitely worth it.
