I had the choice of replacing only the auger or the whole Ice Bucket and Auger Assembly. I took the easy way out and replaced the whole assembly. It was easy and works just like the original.

Just a note, you have to change out some parts from your old one. It only took a couple minutes.

The part is the perfect replacement for my old part. The new bucket is well made and should give me many happy yeras of ice making. Here in the desert. icce is a very important item, so to have this vital part back in my freezer.

the old unit was corroding at many points on the auger where the chrome plate had been knocked off by mineral fragments in the cold water. I had two options; buy a new auger and guess my way to dismantle the unit and rebuild it (for which there is no DIY procedure), or buy the entire bucket and auger. I opted or the more expensive assembly because installing it only involved removal and replacement of four screws. It only took a few minutes. The next step will be an in-line filter to prevent a recurrrence. That's unlikely because the refrigerator is now about 26 years old.
