Our Fridge was making a squeaky noise up in the freezer area whenever it fired up for the cooling. I looked on the back of the fridge and noticed a cheat sheet for repair persons that had a drawing and replacement parts numbers. I realized it had to be the evaporator fan failing. I "googled" something like "replace evaporator fan fridge" and found a video on Youtube of someone doing a typical replacement. After realizing how easy it was and I wasn't going to die doing it I searched for the part # on Amazon and found it. This isn't the exact model number but it seems it is the more up to date model. The seller didn't offer expedited shipping but it came in three days! Our fridge is a basic Hotpoint model and its been working great now for several weeks after about 5 minutes of actual work. Side bonus?good excuse to clean out the freezer (you'll be amazed what you find).

So my fridge got louder and louder, and recently had lost some cooling in the freezer. Apparently the original motor, which blows on the freezer and is called evaporator fan motor, was loose at the axle, so the fan got caught on its housing.

Well it's really model WR60X10141, as it appears on this and the original GE motor. Only the documentation refers to WR60X10046, but either way I wasn't able to find a GE-made replacement. This is working as expected so far. Will update if it stops.

Our GE fridge has been noisier than normal since the beginning but got increasingly worse. We googled the problem and found a simple video on how to replace this part. It worked. We received the part in 2 days and now have a quiet fridge for the first time in 2 years.
