Who knew that repairing a refrigerator could cost so little? The first thing I said when this part was installed and the refrigerator started to cool was "Thank you, $13 part, for fixing our fridge."
We returned from vacation over a week ago to find that our fridge/freezer side by side unit had stopped cooling. There was power and fan noise, but no cooling. So as a family that strives to fix our own gadgets and appliances, we began researching what the possible culprits could be.
The unit is a Kenmore side by side that was handed down from my parents. Fortunately, it is only used as a second fridge for overflow items. But, we still rely on it.
After some research, we found that the unit had been repaired before, and they had installed a similar starter kit. We tested the compressor resistance and it appeared to be fine. So, we went with the assumption that the issue was the starter kit. After a bit more research, we found that this URCO410 kit was a better choice, so we ordered it.
It arrived a couple days later, we installed it with the simple instructions provided (5 wires to attach in our case), and, fortunately, the fridge came back to life.
I cannot vouch for the longevity of this kit. But it is working now, and we sure hope it stays that way. This kit was very simple to install and saved us from having to have a service call. And it came at a great price.
