GE GSCS3KGYSS 22.7 cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Water and Ice Dispenser - Stainless Steel

GE GSCS3KGYSS 22.7 cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Water and Ice Dispenser - Stainless SteelMy GE side by side with icemaker has had 4 major failures in its first four years. In two cases, the circuit that controls auto defrost has failed, keeping the freezer in defrost mode, and ruining about $100 worth of food both times. The other two times, the icemaker failed, paid $80 the first time but the second time the repair tech said the whole unit needed replacing at a cost of $300. I switched to ice cubes.

With this most recent failure of auto defrost, after worrying about soft meat and vegetable items in the freezer side, I threw it all out since there is no way of knowing how long the defrost cycle was in failure.

I went out and bought a different brand, after making sure GE did not supply it under another name.

My uncle installed a GE fridge in 1932 and I visited the house where it was in 2002 and it was still in operation. GE engineers and manufacturing personnel should hang their heads in shame for this 2007 model.
