My experience casts very serious doubt on the quality of any Frigidaire product.

Purchased this unit a month ago. It runs 35 to 40 minutes out of the hour. The fan is so loud we hear it throughout the house. The service guy who came to check it out said all that was totally normal, just get used to it. Also was told the fan was in all frost free freezers. Why the fan has to be so loud is a mystery. Buy something other than this unit.......Want Frigidaire FFU14F5H 1 Discount?
I have this freezer for a few months now. Bought it after some research but mainly because it is very good value for the price and got decent (though not great) ratings from ConsumerReports which I trust. It ranked excellent on temperature and fair on energy consumption and noise but looking at the differences in annual operation cost this really isn't a great factor for me it can be around $30 A YEAR between the best freezer and the worst (more or less). Manual defrost are more efficient but I didn't want one of these and again, the difference is minor.I store it in my garage so noise is not an issue. Note that unlike other vendors, the manual for this one says very clearly that it CAN be used in temperatures under 32F, so storing it in a garage is not an issue.
There's a display on the freezer door but it just displays the level not the temperature. However it is still nice to have some indication of the level and mainly some indication that the freezer is on. Also, there's a 'door ajar' alarm and low temperature alarm. The level setting can be locked to avoid accidental changing.
the freezer has a manual lock too
shelves are wire so no 'luxury' here but still their pretty solid and very functional. there's a basket at the bottom shelf which is useful. Also, there is plenty of storage space on door shelves although the shelves do not seem so sturdy.
light inside the freezer is very bright and it's easy to find stuff even in the dark garage.
overall build quality looks pretty good. It was very easy to level the freezer legs. The installer did this for me but then I had to move the freezer to another spot so had to level myself. Very easy.
I hope it doesn't quit on me like it did on other reviewers here. So far, I'm pretty happy with this freezer and it seems like a good buy and good value for the money.
things I would improve are:
* more robust shelves both in the freezer and in the door
* temperature display outside
but other than these I feel this is a very good product for the priceMy wife and I bought this freezer from Lowe's less than 2 years ago. 1 year ago, the digital control unit failed and we almost lost hundreds of dollars worth of meat. Last week, the unit stopped cooling and again we had to put hundreds of dollars worth of meat elsewhere. My wife spent hours on the phone with Frigidaire, who finally agreed to pay for parts and labor in order to fix the unit. We called one of their contractors who came out that very day. He spent 30 minutes or so doing various checks and found that there was a leak in the interior wall, which he said could not be fixed. He then called Frigidaire and they told him they wouldn't do anything. My wife called again and they refused to replace or even have the decency to give a discount on another unit. She told them that they would be losing their reputation and that we would tell everyone considering their products not to buy them. Lesson learned NEVER BUY FRIGIDAIRE.
